Where I get to have my opinion on politics, because in this country I can Part IV

Yea, I'm back with another opinion. Just can't help not commenting lately!

So, Larry King had a chat with Meghan McCain (John's daughter). Seems she wrote a book about her Daddy. And while interviewing her, Larry asked her what she likes about Sarah:

First of all, she's really chill. She's really nice, really friendly. She's really up on pop culture, which I always respect. She's very smart. She doesn't act entitled, which unfortunately sometimes you get with some politicians. She's just like your average girl, like just a mom. But she's very, very shrewd, very smart. I've heard her talking about issues.

Umm. Gosh. Where to even begin.

Let's start with 'she's really chill.... really friendly'. I don't want my VP to be really chill and friendly. I want them to be knowledgeable and show leadership.

'She's up on pop culture' - that's nice. I'd kinda hope so with 5 kids, but not necessarily a requirement for VP

'She's just like your average girl, like just a mom.'
SHE IS. SHE IS A MOM. I'd like to think you'd say the same about your Dad. That he's like a Dad. But we're not talking about their parenting here! We're talking about the future leaders of our country!

and the clincher: 'just like a mom. But she's .... very smart.'
Wow. Did.she.really.say.that? Like a Mom, but smart. If she were my daughter she would be SO grounded right now.

So, us Mom's aren't smart? We can't be both? Well, at least I guess it's OK for Mom's to be really chill then.

But seriously - I'll be posting some non-political stuff soon. Real soon. Really.

I think I'll show off how smart of a mom I have by voting for Obama.

I mean "how smart of a mom I am..."

That's embarrassing. I guess I'm not so smart, huh?

Stimey - actually it was a compliment to YOUR Mom. I think you should both vote for Obama :)

Knowledge and intellect are not important any longer. What is more important is being cool. Just like your friendly neighbor. It does not appear that McCain's daughter understands what is required from a VP, but she is very respectful and friendly. So her dad isn't that bad after all. Which still does not qualify him to be a president. As far as being hero, this gets on my nerves. He was a bad pilot, he got shot down and then he refused to be a coward. "Not coward" and "hero" are different things. He didn't do anything out of the ordinary and did not risk his life to save others, he did not outsmart the enemy, he did not win a battle... With all the respect, this hero status is propaganda. Every POW is a hero. He is a family-wealthy politician, and a nice dad. He has little education and is not too smart. Just like GW Bush.

I don't see your name on the ballot!

C'mon. She's 23 years old, talking like a 23 year old, and the issues important to a 23 year old. Let's get Obama's kids on Larry King and talk about why thier dad should be president; you'd probably get some pretty good answers from a 6 and 9 year old too.

Yes, she is talking like a 23 year old. And a very good point about what Obama's kids (or even SP for that matter) would say.
But the difference is they are under 18, we expect them to be cute or incorrect.
As a 23 year old, who is representing a political campaign, she also needs to be more careful (I think) about what/how she says things. A 23 year old is an adult, not a little kid, whom people will take a lot more seriously.
Most of the speech, sure, sounded like a 23 year old. But the comment about 'just like a mom, but smart'? That's just an insult to Mom's everywhere regardless of what political party you are in.

Thanks everyone for chiming in!!

Being a mom doesn't automatically make one smart... You become a mom by popping out kids and plenty of druggies can do that!
